The New York Giants offered strong positive feedback following their recent head coaching interview with franchise great Antonio Pierce.
NFL insider Ian O’Connor reported that Pierce performed exceptionally well, with sources close to the process praising his development.
One individual familiar with Pierce from his Super Bowl-playing days said he “blew me away with his growth,” while another described him as a “born leader” who “learned a lot from Tom Coughlin.”
Pierce, a linebacker on the Giants’ Super Bowl XLII championship team (2005-2009), ended his tenure as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders at the conclusion of the 2024 season after serving as interim in 2023 and full-time thereafter.
The interview with New York, conducted on Thursday night and Friday, aligns with earlier reports of the Giants scheduling talks with the former player.
As general manager Joe Schoen and ownership evaluate candidates to replace the midseason-fired Brian Daboll, Pierce’s deep organizational ties and leadership reputation make him a notable contender in the ongoing search.
