Telegraph Sport understands that Gloucester are not set to bring in a fly-half immediately to replace Cipriani, who scored 128 points in 44 appearances for the club. Lloyd Evans is the remaining specialist fly-half in Gloucester’s squad, with academy fly-half George Barton starting last Sunday’s heavy away defeat against Lyon in the Champions Cup. “After much deliberation. I have decided to leave Gloucester,” Cipriani wrote on Twitter. “I have mixed emotions about it. I am sad to leave a great club, but I’m excited for the challenges I have ahead. I am so proud of what we have built together, and I have enjoyed working with every one [sic].
