Arsenal head coach Renee Slegers says her side missed an opportunity to close the gap to the WSL top two after falling to a goalless draw to Manchester United<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium keeps Arsenal third and United fourth in the table, after the Gunners failed to capitalise on Jayde Riviere\u2019s second half sending off.<\/p>\n

Slegers\u2019<\/a> side remain move to seven points behind leaders Manchester City, having played a game more, and the Gunners boss was disappointed her team did not come away with all three points after a dominant display.<\/p>\n

\u201cA game of dominance, apart from that first header they had in the first half,\u201d Slegers said. \u201cA game of dominance with no reward unfortunately.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I was happy we had more shots today than we had earlier in the season, around 25, which is good because it means we had more situations from different phases of play \u2013 counter-attacks and longer attacks with more players in the box.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot enough shots on target so we are definitely going to be looking at how we\u2019re going to be creating more clear-cut chances. <\/p>\n

Arsenal had 25 attempts at goal compared to United\u2019s four, as they struggled to breakdown a compact defensive display from the visitors.<\/p>\n

Slegers was satisfied with how her side reacted after United\u2019s sending off, but understands the battle to chase down the WSL top two has become a lot harder.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course it\u2019s good for us when they\u2019re one player down because we can get more numbers higher up the pitch. We did that well and made two changes in the set-up and the players did that really well. We can look at how we get the ball into better areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course it\u2019s an advantage for us for them to go a player down and we are prepared for all scenarios.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to climb and look upwards. We lost two points today, it was very important for us today so it makes it a little but harder but we keep on going.\u201d<\/p>\n
