New Jersey Devils<\/a> forward Jack Hughes was the hero for the United States in the gold medal victory against Canada on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Hughes scored the game-winning goal in the game, giving the United States their first gold medal in men’s ice hockey since 1980, and its third gold medal ever in the event. However, Hughes’ goal was only part of the story.<\/p>\n

Late in the game, Hughes drew a penalty on a high stick to the face, allowing the U.S. to get a four-minute power play. While the team didn’t score on the advantage, the play left a mark in Hughes’ mouth, leading to a noticeable visual in the postgame celebration.<\/p>\n
