\u2018I never want to disrespect anyone\u2019 \u2013 Glasner apologises and explains his comments following fan protests<\/p>\n
Oliver Glasner says he understands the frustration of fans following protests in Crystal Palace\u2019s win over Wolves \u2013 but stressed the importance of their support.<\/strong><\/p>\n Palace fans held up banners reading \u2018Opportunities missed\u2019, \u2018Board inept\u2019 as well as \u2018Fans disrespected\u2019 and \u2018Glasner finished\u2019.<\/p>\n It follows comments from Glasner in which he told the fans they should \u201cstay humble\u201d, adding that \u201ca few who are so critical in this situation are not humble anymore\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s the way fans can express their opinion, because otherwise, they can\u2019t tell you,\u201d Glasner said on the banners held up during the game.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s completely fine. Everybody can tell what he thinks and I do the same. I say what I think is the right thing.<\/p>\n \u201cThere were a few boos and there was a banner. That\u2019s completely fine. But I will always say what I think, what I believe. I think I never disrespected anyone.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is why I disagree, because everybody who knows me (knows I have) a huge respect for everyone, regardless of their position, regardless of their skin colour, regardless of their religion, regardless of everything.<\/p>\n \u201cThe fans can be disappointed, absolutely. We are disappointed. We are frustrated. And I think I\u2019m the one most of all because I\u2019m so ambitious.<\/p>\n \u201cI want always more and more and more. And I said to the players, I think maybe I pushed too hard. And I take this criticism.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s completely fine. What was important is that they supported the team. They helped to win the game.<\/p>\n \u201cIf they feel disrespected, they feel it. I didn\u2019t mean to disrespect anyone. Then it was maybe the wrong words taken.<\/p>\n \u201cBut on the other side, I will always say what I think is right, and I\u2019m telling this to my children maybe weekly \u2013 stay humble, never forget where you\u2019re coming from.<\/p>\n \u201cIf somebody felt to be disrespected, then I want to say sorry because I never want to disrespect anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n Glasner, however, was delighted with the win as January signing Evann Guessand struck late to win it 1-0.<\/p>\n \u201cThe first small step in the right direction was the Brighton away win, the second small step was now,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201c(We are) getting the confidence back and this is why it was very important.\u201d<\/p>\n
