Marc Skinner: Man United women manager makes big promise to fans<\/p>\n
Manchester United Women lost their first game since before Christmas to Chelsea in the FA Cup.<\/p>\n
In spite of a fine effort, they were beaten 2-1<\/a> by their old rivals.<\/p>\n Head coach Marc Skinner<\/a> spoke to the club\u2019s official website<\/a> after the game and gave his thoughts on the performance.<\/p>\n Responding to how he felt after the game, he stated, \u201cProud. Proud. So proud of the players. So proud of all the commitment. We\u2019ve just played back-to-back-to-back games \u2014 travel away, travel at home \u2014 and to put in that performance epitomises everything we are. It epitomises our fans\u2019 energy, our players\u2019 energy. There\u2019s something special about us, about this team.\u201d<\/p>\n He also claimed that the loss \u201churt\u201d, but everyone could see how much the game meant to his players.<\/p>\n Skinner also claimed that the defeat will be useful, as it \u201cwill feed us for the next games coming up.\u201d<\/p>\n The manager also added that he feels his side should have had a penalty and that he is hoping his team will get more luck in the upcoming League Cup final against the same opponent.<\/p>\n Skinner also revealed that his team changed shape and strategy during the match to try and take the win, but once again reiterated that it was his team\u2019s effort that pleased him the most.<\/p>\n He claimed his team, \u201cshowed real commitment when things are against you and you can still fight. That shows special character. And if you\u2019re at a special team like ours, that\u2019s what you have to build.\u201d<\/p>\n Comparing both teams, Skinner added that United have had to build more slowly and methodically over the years than Chelsea, but that they are finally getting to a place where they can compete.<\/p>\n He added, \u201cthe players we brought in this year have epitomised and galvanised the group and pushed us on to stronger things. We\u2019ll come back from this stronger. We haven\u2019t tasted defeat in a while, so it\u2019s a little shock \u2014 but it gives us fresh impetus going into the next games.\u201d<\/p>\n A common theme in recent games has been the size of support that United have brought along to away games, both at home and in Europe.<\/p>\n Speaking on this issue, Skinner explained, \u201cthey\u2019re the life force behind us \u2014 the golden thread in everything we try to do.
