Leny Yoro banned from driving for the next six months<\/p>\n
Manchester United<\/a> defender Leny Yoro has been handed a six-month driving ban after being caught travelling at almost two-and-a-half times the speed limit in a residential area, according to The Independent<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n The 20-year-old was clocked driving his Porsche Cayenne GTS at 72mph in a 30mph zone in the Manchester suburb of Withington shortly after 4 pm on August 28, 2025.<\/p>\n He was charged by Greater Manchester Police with both the speeding offence and failing to identify the driver of the vehicle following the incident.<\/p>\n During the legal proceedings, Yoro\u2019s representative, Lisa Nevitt of Burton Copeland, issued a formal apology on behalf of the centre-back.<\/p>\n The defence explained that the high speed was due to Yoro \u201crushing to take a friend to the railway station.\u201d<\/p>\n His lawyer further noted that Yoro believed the road\u2019s broad nature at that point meant there was little risk of contact with vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians.<\/p>\n While Yoro was not at risk of a ban due to \u201ctotting up\u201d penalty points from previous offences, the magistrate ruled that the extreme nature of the speed warranted a suspension.<\/p>\n Consequently, the court imposed a six-month ban and ordered the defender to pay a total of \u00a31,052, comprising a \u00a3666 fine, \u00a3120 in costs, and a \u00a3266 victim surcharge.<\/p>\n Yoro\u2019s legal team emphasised his accountability, stating he would not contest the ban given the circumstances.<\/p>\n Since his high-profile \u00a352.2m move from Lille in the summer of 2024, the Frenchman has established himself as a key figure in United\u2019s backline, making 24 appearances across all competitions this season.<\/p>\n While he will now need to arrange alternative transport for the next six months, this is not expected to affect his availability for the remainder of the 2025\u201326 campaign.<\/p>\n Eyeing a return to the Champions League, Yoro and United currently sit fourth in the Premier League, level on points with Chelsea and Liverpool, ahead of Monday\u2019s clash with Everton.<\/p>\n
