Former Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones has admitted in court to assaulting a police officer<\/a> after his arrest in a separate incident<\/a> at a Covington bar last year. <\/p>\n

Jones, 42, pleaded guilty on Feb. 20 in Kenton County Circuit Court to felony assault, according to Kenton County Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders. He also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, menacing, resisting arrest and a lower-level assault charge.<\/p>\n

As part of Jones’ plea agreement, Sanders said in an email, prosecutors are recommending an 18-month sentence for the felony charge, which would run concurrently with any sentence imposed for the misdemeanors.<\/p>\n

Jones ‘intentionally threw his elbow’ at officer, police say<\/h2>\n

Covington police responded to the Second Story bar on Sixth Street early in June for a report of customer trouble, according to a criminal citation. Officers stopped Jones in his Rolls-Royce and the ex-Bengal exited the vehicle, trying to walk away from police. <\/p>\n

Police noted that Jones was “unsteady on his feet, had red, glossy eyes and had slurred speech.”<\/p>\n

The citation states that Jones was screaming obscenities and began yelling at officers after they warned him to stop walking away.<\/p>\n

Roughly an hour later, at the Kenton County Detention Center, Jones was handcuffed and “intentionally threw his elbow upwards,” striking an officer in the bottom lip, a separate citation states. <\/p>\n

Timothy Schneider, Jones’ attorney, has yet to respond to a phone call from The Enquirer.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say Jones was uncooperative with court-ordered treatment<\/h2>\n

Court documents show that prosecutors sought to have Jones’ bond revoked ahead of trial for using controlled substances and failing to complete substance-use treatment or cooperate with treatment providers. <\/p>\n

Jones was terminated from a court-ordered treatment program at the St. Elizabeth Journey Recovery Center for “excessive tardiness” and continued use of THC products, a notice filed in September states.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Court records show Jones is listed as a patient with the Ohio Medical Marijuana Registry.<\/p>\n

While court documents list Jones’ address as being in Cincinnati, he told treatment program staff, “I do not stay here and I have to get on a flight to make my appointments,” reads a program termination letter.<\/p>\n

Ex-Bengal has prior arrests related to alcohol use<\/h2>\n

Jones’ past troubles with the law were also partly due to his alcohol consumption.<\/p>\n

He was arrested at the\u00a0Cincinnati\/Northern Kentucky International Airport<\/a>\u00a0in the summer of 2023 after police were called for help with an “unruly passenger” on an early morning flight. When arrested, Jones threatened to cause serious physical harm, The Enquirer previously reported, adding that Jones was also charged with alcohol intoxication. <\/p>\n

He was arrested again in the fall of 2024 at a hotel in Arlington, Texas, after the\u00a0Mike Tyson and Jake Paul<\/a>\u00a0boxing match at AT&T Stadium, according to\u00a0USA TODAY.<\/a><\/p>\n

Jones was charged with assaulting a peace officer, public intoxication and resisting arrest after police responded to a bar fight after the match.<\/p>\n

He is expected to appear in court again on April 14 for sentencing before Judge Patricia Summe.<\/p>\n
