A heart murmur can be a harmless heart problem (during pregnancy or exercise), or it can be a symptom of serious heart condition, for example, congenital heart defects or heart valve disease. A heart murmur makes a whooshing or swishing sound. Symptoms of a heart murmur include fatigue, chest pain, and blacking out. Some hear murmurs aren’t serious, but some life threatening.
