Pediculus humanus capitis (head louse),; Pediculus humanus corporis (body louse, clothes louse), and; Pthirus pubis (“crab” louse, pubic louse).; Only the body louse is known to spread disease. Lice infestations (pediculosis and pthiriasis) are spread most commonly by close person-to-person contact.
