The fourth season of The Crown takes Queen Elizabeth II, her family, courtiers, government, and nation from 1979 through Christmas of 1990, a pivotal period which began with the election of Britain’s first female Prime Minister, the assassination of the Earl Mountbatten of Burma, and with the pressing need for the then thirty year old Prince of Wales to find a suitable wife and father children.
