I was being lazy. The cloth drawers that attach by a steel cage under the desk pull on the frame, shake and make a squeak. They also take away a quarter of the already limited leg room. The cross beam under the desk goes nearly halfway down the height of the desk so you can’t really extend your legs without banging your shins in to it.
