In 2019, we consulted on introducing a Clean Car Standard and Clean Car Discount, which would apply to all new and used light vehicles registered for use on New Zealand’s roads for the first time. In January 2021, the Government agreed to introduce the Clean Car Standard – a Co 2 emissions standard for imported new and used light vehicles.
