In 2020, a modified version of the Currie Cup was played due to the coronavirus pandemic. No First Division Currie Cup fixtures were played in the tournament and instead a combined Currie Cup and Super Rugby Unlocked tournament was created instead.. Since the Currie Cup became an annual competition in 1968, the Blue Bulls have been the tournament’s most successful side.
