France’s economy advanced 0.7% qoq in Q4 of 2021, slowing sharply from an upwardly revised 3.1% growth in Q3 but exceeding market forecasts of a 0.5% expansion. Both household consumption (0.4% vs 5.6% in Q3) and government spending (0.3% vs 2.7%) eased sharply, amid a negative contribution from net trade as exports grew by 3.2% (vs 1.7% in Q3) while imports rose at a faster 3.6% (vs 0.8%).
