Super Bowl 2023: More than 110 million people tuned in to watch Chiefs beat Eagles in record night for Fox

Rihanna’s halftime show was the second most-watched Super Bowl halftime show on record.

Sunday night’s battle in Arizona turned out to be a record performance for Fox.

About 113 million people tuned in to watch the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, which made it the most-watched Super Bowl in six years, Fox announced on Monday afternoon. The game was the most-streamed Super Bowl, too, up about 18% from last year’s game and up 103% from the Super Bowl in 2020.

The game turned out to be the third-most watched television show ever, too.

Kansas City narrowly beat out Philadelphia for the top-watching market. Those two were followed closely by Cincinnati, Detroit and Pittsburgh to round out the top five.

Rihanna’s halftime show beat the game’s ratings, too. The performance drew an average of 118.7 million viewers across all platforms, which made it the second-most watched halftime show on record. Only Katy Perry’s halftime show in 2015 drew better numbers.

Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 38-35 comeback win at State Farm Stadium on Sunday night to claim their second championship in four years. Mahomes went 21 of 27 for 182 yards and threw three touchdowns in the win to earn Super Bowl MVP honors.
