Oman’s small, relatively wealthy population of about 4 million consume, per capita, almost double the global average quantities of fish. And, although 99% of the sector is still artisanal, its fisheries, says Banu Setlur, World Bank Senior Environmental Specialist, are just a few steps away from becoming a world class competitive industry.
