Sam Hauser on becoming a Boston Celtics veteran as the team gets younger

As the Boston Celtics inch closer to the start of the NBA’s 2025-26 regular season, they discover a bit more about themselves in what will be a retooling campaign for the storied franchise. And with that retooling comes a lot of new faces to replace the likes of Al Horford, Jrue Holiday, Luke Kornet, and Kristaps Porzingis, all of whom were traded to new teams or left in free agency.

Speaking to the media ahead of a recent preseason contest, now-veteran 3-and-D forward Sam Hauser shared what he thinks of being on a roster with so many new faces. After having the luxury of being able to allow the likes of Horford, Kristaps Porzingis, and injured Boston star Jayson Tatum to carry more of the scoring, he will now have to help pick up some the load on the offensive end of the court.

“I think it’s great. I mean, that’s part of the business,” said Hauser of the roster turnover via CLNS Media. “It’s very rare, what we had last year, when we had the same exact roster for the most part.”

“But getting a new wave of players here is cool,” added the Virginia alum. “I mean, we’ve got a lot of guys who are I guess a bit unproven and want to prove themselves a bit this year, and it’s going to be fun.”

“It’s going to look a little different, but I think we still hold ourselves to a high standard and want to compete at the highest level.”
