The Grinch first appeared in the short story The Hoobub and the Grinch which was originally published in the May 1955 edition of Redbook magazine.Unlike later incarnations, the Grinch is a yellow colored creature who cheerfully tricks the Hoobub into buying a piece of green string by convincing the Hoobub that the string is worth more than the Sun.
