A solid production with Richard Burton well cast for O’brien. However, the 1954 BBC T.V. play with Andre Morell and Peter Cushing is still the best visual production despite its budget sets. It’s unusual for Burton to be upstaged but Andre Morell is unsurpassed for the role of O’brien and Peter Cushing is perfect as Winston Smith.
