Gary Lineker issues fresh Premier League top five prediction after last-gasp Liverpool victory
Gary Lineker is backing Liverpool to just about finish inside the top five of the Premier League this season, which’ll likely be enough to earn qualification for the Champions League.

The Reds’ dramatic late win at Nottingham Forest on Sunday has temporarily taken them level on points with Chelsea and Manchester United, although the latter would move into outright fourth place if they avoid defeat away to Everton tonight.
As it stands, England is guaranteed four places in Europe’s premier club competition for 2026/27, but the Premier League is very likely to claim one of the two extra berths reserved for the nations whose teams perform best on the continental stage this term.
Lineker gives fresh top-5 prediction after Liverpool win
On the latest episode of The Rest Is Football, which was recorded after Liverpool’s win on Sunday, Micah Richards asked Lineker to predict his eventual top five by the season’s end.
The former Match of the Day host has backed Arsenal, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Manchester United for Champions League qualification, believing that the fifth and final (potential) berth will be a straight shoout between Merseyside and west London.
He said: “I think it’s between Chelsea and Liverpool, and they’re both a bit erratic. Chelsea have a lot going for them, they’ve had a good run, but they’re a bit inexperienced. Liverpool are definitely better than they were in the first half of the season. They’re not giving as many goals away now.
“Ultimately, if you pinned me against the wall and said, ‘You’ve got to choose your top five’, I’d go Arsenal, City, Villa, Man United and Liverpool, and Chelsea just missing out.”
Liverpool back in the mix for top 5, but crunch showdowns await
After the Reds lost to Man City two weeks ago to fall four points off the teams just ahead of them, it felt as though Champions League qualification was in danger of slipping away from Arne Slot’s side.
John Aldridge even went as far as to claim that Liverpool could ‘forget about’ finishing in the top four after the agonising setback against Pep Guardiola’s side and instead go all-out in the FA Cup and Europe to try and finish the season with a trophy.
However, they capitalised on dropped points for Chelsea and Manchester United later that week and did the same yesterday after the Blues slipped up at the weekend, and the hard-fought manner of those two 1-0 away wins hints that Liverpool have the steel for a fight to the finish.
Every team currently placed between third and sixth has to play each other in the final three months of the campaign, and those head-to-heads could go a long way towards determining who takes the two (or three) Champions League places behind near-certain qualifiers Arsenal and Man City.
The Reds play all three of those contenders in succession in May (Man United away, Chelsea at home, Villa away), so it’s essential that we’re in the top four by the time those games come around so that we’re not left requiring wins to qualify for Europe’s premier club competition.
Before those showdowns roll around, though, Slot’s team need to keep themselves in contention and take full advantage of playing three of the current bottom five in our next three league games.

Jacob Bridgeman reacts to Trevor Lawrence and Dabo Swinney messages after Genesis Invitational win
Jacob Bridgeman received messages from two Clemson Tigers legends after winning the Genesis Invitational.
Trevor Lawrence and Dabo Swinney both congratulated the 26-year-old on his first PGA Tour victory.
Bridgeman entered the final round with a six-shot lead, but it was reduced to one by the 18th hole after a nervy performance.
Still, the former Tiger eventually held off Rory McIlroy and Kurt Kitayama with a clutch par on the last.
Jacob Bridgeman appreciates ‘super special’ Trevor Lawrence support
Bridgeman was shown congratulatory messages from Lawrence and Swinney at the end of his press conference.
He revealed that he had previously met both Clemson icons and was delighted they were supporting him at The Genesis.
“That’s sick,” Bridgeman reacted, before expanding on his admiration for the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback.
“Yeah, Trevor and I were the same age at Clemson, but he was so famous before he even got to school that he couldn’t really hang out with anybody,” he continued.
“I met him a few times, talked to him. He’s a super nice guy. I’ve been a fan of his kind of his whole NFL career. I’m so glad that he had an amazing season this past year and almost won an MVP.
“So super nice guy. I am glad he was watching, and that’s super special that he sent that.”

Dabo Swinney message ‘means a lot’ to Jacob Bridgeman
Bridgeman was equally proud to earn praise from Swinney, head coach of the Tigers’ football team for 17 years.
The two-time national champion used to ask Bridgeman and his fellow golfers for tips during his time at the university.
“And Dabo has been probably the most important guy in Clemson history the last 20 years or so. Amazing man,” Bridgeman said.

“He would show up to the golf facility all the time, just run by, talk to the guys, ask for a couple of tips on his chipping, and scoot on by.
“So very, very nice guy. I’m glad that they’re supportive of me; that means a lot.”

NFL analyst proposes blockbuster trade that sees Rashod Bateman depart
Last season, the Ravens focused on a wide receiver corps that included Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, DeAndre Hopkins, Devontez Walker, Tylan Wallace, and LaJohntay Wester for the bulk of the season. Wester was also the primary punt return player.
The disappointment of an 8-9 season began when Rashod Bateman had a down year and even missed the AFC North title game due to illness. After a career year in 2024, Bateman finished last season with 13 games played, 12 starts, 38 targets, 19 receptions, 224 yards receiving, and two touchdowns. Baltimore is so uncertain at wide receiver that there could be room to bring back DeAndre Hopkins, who had 39 catches for 330 yards and two touchdowns.
ESPN’s Ben Solak proposed a litany of blockbuster trades, including one high-profile deal involving Bateman, a 2027 second-round pick, and a 2027 fourth-round pick (conditional third-rounder) going to Philadelphia for A.J. Brown.
Why this deal makes sense: One of the clear lessons of the Ravens’ 2025 season was that their current group of pass catchers is insufficient. While they might not need to make a move this drastic, they would benefit from having a receiver with size and contested-catch ability — something quarterback Lamar Jackson has never enjoyed in his seven seasons.
By acquiring him for Bateman, the Ravens can give Brown a true WR1’s volume and use Zay Flowers as a big-play WR2 — something that fits his skill set more. In Philadelphia, DeVonta Smith is clearly destined to be WR1; Bateman represents a classic buy-low move from Roseman on a player with high draft capital but modest career production.
Any such trade would be costly for Philadelphia before June 1. According to Over The Cap, if Brown gets traded before June 1, the Eagles would incur a dead cap charge of $43,515,106. If he remains on the roster in 2026, Brown would count for 23,393,497 against the salary cap. If he’s traded after June 1, the dead cap hit would be $43,515,106, with $27,161,609 counting towards 2027’s cap as well.
Brown has earned All-Pro honors, Pro Bowl honors, 1,400+ yards twice, and amassed 5,000+ yards receiving since joining the Eagles.

Patriots offseason preview: Will Campbell is low on the list of OT questions
FOXBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS – JANUARY 04: Will Campbell #66 of the New England Patriots warms up before the game against the Miami Dolphins at Gillette Stadium on January 04, 2026 in Foxborough, Massachusetts. (Photo by Winslow Townson/Getty Images) | Getty Images
You watched the NFL playoffs. You saw the problems the New England Patriots offense had. You heard the Will Campbell discourse.
Well, what if we told you that he actually is fairly low on the list of questions the team has? A 22-year-old former fourth overall draft pick whose development was disrupted by a mid-season knee injury and who faced as tough a list of postseason opponents as any tackle in recent memory, let alone a rookie, is not the biggest concern? Shocking, right?
Before we get hung up on Campbell, though, let’s break down the entire group with the offseason having started.
Patriots offensive tackle depth chart
Will Campbell: The fourth overall selection in the NFL Draft, Campbell slid right into the vacant left tackle spot upon his arrival and did not look back. He ended up starting all 17 of the regular season and playoff games he appeared in at that position and for the most part played some solid football. His playoff run — coming after a late-November MCL tear that seemingly stunted his growth — was problematic, but his entire body of work in 2025 was quite promising and indicative of a player whose future is brighter than the postseason might make it seem. | Signed (2029 UFA) | $9.92M cap hit
Morgan Moses: The Patriots signed Moses to a three-year, $24 million free agency deal last March for two reasons: to bring stability and quality to the right tackle position, and to serve as a leader in a rebuilt offensive line room. Being the consummate professional, he did both of those things. The 34-year-old started all 21 of New England’s games and with the exception of a few minor bumps along the way — both in terms of performance and physical toll — came as advertised. | Signed (2028 UFA) | $10.4M cap hit
Vederian Lowe: Lowe’s 2024 season was one of ups and downs, which in turn prompted the Patriots to bring in Will Campbell in the first round of the draft. But even though that investment cost him his left tackle job, he still managed to stick around and play some solid football. While a backup throughout the year, he did end up starting four place while Campbell was injured down the stretch in the regular season and managed to hold his own. It was a bounceback season of sorts for Lowe. | UFA
Thayer Munford Jr.: The 2025 season saw Munford Jr. spend time with three different teams before a return to New England finally resulted in stability. Serving primarily as a sixth offensive lineman and on special teams, he was given snaps in nine games with three starts. The 26-year-old never challenged for a starting spot at his listed position, but he provided positive value in his role. | UFA
Marcus Bryant: Selected 216 spots after Will Campbell in last year’s draft, Bryant managed to make it onto the Patriots’ 53-man roster by serving as the primary backup to Morgan Moses. He saw a handful of snaps in that role, but ultimately lost the OT4 spot to Munford Jr. and his more versatile skillset. As a consequence, Bryant was a healthy scratch each game from Week 13 on. | Signed (2029 UFA) | $1.04M cap hit
Yasir Durant: After earning all-star honors in the UFL, Durant returned to the Patriots for another crack at an NFL career. However, he was waived with an injury designation early in training camp and reverted to season-ending injured reserve in late July. | RFA
Sebastian Gutierrez: An undrafted free agent in 2022 who has spent time with eight different NFL organization, Gutierrez spent most of 2025 on the Patriots practice squad without seeing any game action. He was signed to a reserve/futures deal in February. | Signed (2026 ERFA) | $1.08M cap hit
Lorenz Metz (IPPP): A member of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program and therefore roster exempt, Metz joined the Patriots practice squad in mid-January after previous stints in Chicago and Tampa. He too was signed to a futures deal after the season. | Signed (2026 ERFA) | $885k cap hit
Patriots offseason preview
As mentioned earlier, Will Campbell may be the highest-profile question mark at the offensive tackle position, but the size of that “?” is nowhere near as big as some of the takes might make you believe. For starters, the Patriots are committed to him as their left tackle of the future, and why would they not be? His talent is undeniable, and his issues — if you believe multiple NFL offensive linemen — are very much fixable.
The Patriots looking for a new left tackle and moving Campbell to guard is not in the plans for now. Maybe the outlook changes if he does not progress as one would hope, but for now we go the “glass half full” route and believe he can make a significant step forward in Year 2 as an NFL left tackle.
So, if he’s not the question mark, where are they?
In two places, actually: at right tackle and at the backup level.
Morgan Moses is a fine player; not a world-beater or All-Pro-caliber presence but experienced and skilled enough to get the job done far more often than not. However, he also will turn 35 next week and is far closer to the end of his career than the beginning. Naturally, finding a long-term replacement should be on the Patriots’ to-do list this offseason.
Maybe they see Marcus Bryant as a player capable of taking that step; maybe it is one of the other tackles on the roster or free agents list. Or maybe they go after the position in the draft, to find an understudy who could succeed Moses in 2027.
As for the backup tackles, both the third and the fourth option from 2025 are off to the open market. Retaining them should be financially possible, but even one of them leaving would put pressure on the overall construction of the group. Maybe Bryant can step up and into either the OT3 or OT4 role, but his rookie year suggests that there will be a lot of projecting involved.
Ultimately, though both that question and the one about the Morgan Moses succession plan are relatively minor in comparison to having to find a capable left tackle. Luckily for New England, it is possible they have that latter questions answered already — even if the last month of the season might cast some doubt on that assumption.

"F1" movie's Damson Idris makes championship return with new "All To Drive For" campaign

F1 movie star Damson Idris has returned to the world of Formula 1 with a new campaign ahead of the 2026 season.
The All To Drive For campaign will feature the 34-year-old British actor alongside all 22 drivers from the 2026 grid. F1.com shared a teaser trailer for the new campaign on 22 February. The trailer began with a garage opening to reveal Idris. “You think you know Formula 1?” he asked. “Think again.”
2025 champion Lando Norris added: “Everything is changing,” before the trailer returned to Idris, followed by Oscar Piastri, Nico Hulkenberg, Gabriel Bortoleto, Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas, Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll, George Russell, Kimi Antonelli, Oliver Bearman, Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly, Franco Colapinto, Liam Lawson, Arvid Lindblad, Alex Albon, Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar.
“The 2026 season welcomes Formula 1’s next generation of racing, with new cars, new engines, and a whole new style of driving,” Emily Prazer, chief commercial officer of F1, explained in a press release.
“It’s the biggest shake up our sport has ever seen with the playing field levelled as each team battles to produce the best car and performance. The campaign invites fans both old and new to get involved at a time where every lap is unpredictable, and it’s all to drive for.”

The campaign coincides with the new regulations in the championship. The 2026 season rules feature an almost 50:50 split between internal combustion and electric power among many other changes, including smaller, lighter cars and the introduction of active aerodynamics, which replaces DRS.
Idris has become well-known in the F1 space after the success of the F1 movie in June 2025. The filming of the movie took place during real race weekends, meaning Idris, his co-star Brad Pitt, and the film crew would often be seen within the paddock.
Since its release in June 2025, F1 has grossed over $630million at the global box office and has been a popular picture during awards season, with the most recent win coming at the BAFTAs on 22 February for Best Sound.

Vinícius and Prestianni set to meet again a week after racism allegation in Champions League match
MADRID (AP) — Vinícius Júnior is set to face Gianluca Prestianni again in the Champions League, just a week after accusing the Benfica player of racially insulting him.
Real Madrid and Benfica will meet Wednesday in the second leg of the knockout round of the Champions League. Madrid won the first match in Lisbon last Tuesday with Vinícius scoring a second-half winner for a 1-0 victory.
The game was halted for nearly 10 minutes after the Brazil forward scored and celebrated by the Benfica corner flag, upsetting local fans and players. After being confronted by Prestianni, Vinícius accused the Argentine player of calling him “monkey.” Prestianni has denied racially insulting Vinícius.
The anti-racism protocol was activated but no further action was taken during the match as there was no evidence against Prestianni, who covered his mouth with his shirt while talking to Vinícius. The Madrid forward was shown a yellow card after his celebration.
UEFA opened an investigation into what happened but there had been no ruling made as of Monday, meaning both players are available to play the return match on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Vinícius scored Madrid’s goal in the team’s 2-1 loss at Osasuna on Saturday. Prestianni did not play in Benfica’s 3-0 win over AVS on Saturday because of a yellow card suspension.
Missing for Benfica on Wednesday will be coach José Mourinho, who was sent off late in the first leg for complaining with the referee. The former Madrid coach criticized Vinícius for celebrating his goal by the Benfica flag.
Surprising Bodø/Glimt
On Tuesday, small Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt will look to keep its surprising run going when it takes a two-goal advantage for the second leg at Inter Milan.
The first-leg win followed up back-to-back wins against Manchester City and Atletico Madrid in the league phase.
Inter, last year’s Champions League runner-up, will hope to overcome the first-match deficit and show that the loss in Norway was a fluke amid a run of seven wins in eight games across all competitions.
“Sometimes we produce our best in big matches, other times we don’t,” Inter defender Manuel Akanji said. “But there aren’t two different versions of Inter. Yes, we lost to Bodø/Glimt last time out in the Champions League, but we’re still the same team capable of great things.”
Juve’s crisis
Another Italian club who will need a comeback will be Juventus when it hosts Galatasaray on Wednesday after losing 5-2 in the first leg in Turkey.
Juventus has been struggling, though, and is coming off a 2-0 loss at home to Como that hurt its hopes of Champions League qualification next season. It was Juventus’ third straight defeat across all competitions and its fifth game in a row without a win.
Focused PSG
Both defending European champion Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco won in the French league this weekend ahead of their second leg in Paris on Wednesday. Monaco’s 3-2 victory over Lens allowed PSG to regain the French league lead with a 3-0 win against Metz.
PSG came back from two goals down against Monaco to win the first leg 3-2. Désiré Doue, who scored twice against Monaco, also found the net in the win against Metz.
Atletico Madrid rebounds
Atletico squandered a two-goal lead and conceded late in a 3-3 draw in its first-leg at Club Brugge for its second game without a win in all competitions.
Diego Simeone’s team rebounded ahead of Tuesday’s return match by defeating Espanyol 4-2 in the Spanish league on Saturday. Ademola Lookman scored again, earning his fourth goal in six matches since being signed by Atletico.
“It’s always important to win ahead of an important match like the one we have on Tuesday,” Simeone said.
Other matchups
Also Tuesday, Newcastle will be in control when it hosts Qarabag defending a 6-1 first-leg win, while Bayer Leverkusen will bring home a 2-0 lead from its win at Olympiacos. Borussia Dortmund also won 2-0 in the first leg against Atalanta ahead of the return game in Italy.

Monday Headlines: Kentucky in the College Basketball Rankings
Kentucky basketball continues to slide after dropping a third consecutive loss on Saturday night when they fell 75-74 at Auburn. The loss came after losing at Florida and then at home against Georgia last week.
It’s the program’s first three-game losing streak in Southeastern Conference play since 2021 and could very well play a major part in the team falling short of making the NCAA Tournament.
Kentucky has four league games left and is currently projected to play on Wednesday of the SEC Tournament.
The feeling is that anything short of 2-2 over the final stretch of the regular season and at least 2 wins in the conference tournament could cause the Wildcats to watch the Big Dance from home.
However, the Wildcats are somehow still inside the Top-25 of the EvanMiya rankings at No. 24 and are coming in at No. 29 in the latest polls from both DRatings and Haslametrics.
Kentucky will retake the court on Tuesday when they pay a visit to the South Carolina Gamecocks.
According to ESPN’s Basketball Power Index, the Wildcats are a sizable favorite with a 75.6% chance to win.
Tip-off for Tuesday night’s game is scheduled for 7 PM ET with coverage on the SEC Network.
For the women’s team, they fell in another close game at Vanderbilt on Sunday to lose the season series, 2-0.
They’ll stay on the road at Auburn on Thursday before ending their regular season against South Carolina at Historic Memorial Coliseum on Sunday.

Inter Maintain Lead In Serie A Title Race: Key Players and Next Challenges
Inter Maintain Lead In Serie A Title Race: Key Players and Next Challenges
Inter are still top of Serie A, yet nobody at Appiano Gentile is getting carried away as one poor result could change the mood quickly. Recent weeks have shown grit and patience, though the chasing pack remain close enough to apply real pressure.
Cristian Chivu knows how quickly momentum can shift. His players feel it too. Performances have been solid rather than spectacular, which often matters more at this stage of the season. Clean sheets have returned. Goals have come at the right time. Still, tension lingers around every fixture.
Keeping that lead demands calm heads and smart decisions. Flair helps, yet structure and focus will decide the outcome.
Inter Grind Out Vital Result to Stay Top
Last weekend offered another reminder that title races reward control. Inter did not dominate every phase, yet they dictated the tempo when it mattered most. That ability to manage moments has kept them ahead and a 2-0 win over Lecce allowed the Nerazzurri to move 10 points above Milan in the Serie A table as the Rossoneri lost 1-0 at home against Parma on Sunday.
Defensive Organisation Setting the Tone
Lautaro Martínez is currently injured but has been able to find space inside the box quite often in Serie A this term, resulting in the league’s top scorer after 26 rounds. His awareness continues to separate him from most defenders he faces. Behind him, the defensive line stayed compact and disciplined.
Manuel Akanji has organised those around him, constantly adjusting positioning. Wing backs tracked runners rather than pushing forward recklessly. Midfielders recovered quickly when possession turned over. Limiting clear chances has become a habit.
Sustaining that stability requires daily focus on training. Coaches should emphasise spacing between lines and quick defensive transitions. Vocal leadership during matches keeps the structure intact, especially late in the match when fatigue sets in.

Smart Rotation and Squad Depth
Rotation will become more important as fixtures stack up. Tired legs often lead to careless mistakes. Chivu has capable options on the bench and must trust them during demanding weeks.
Fresh players introduced at the right time can shift momentum. Energy in wide areas and midfield can prevent opponents from building pressure. Careful squad management often decides tight campaigns.
Consistency in selection builds understanding, though small tactical adjustments help counter specific opponents. Striking that balance keeps performances steady.
Leadership During Tense Moments
Nicolò Barella drives standards with a relentless work rate. Despite Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s injury, Piotr Zielinski has brought calm when matches threaten to drift.
Clear internal targets can steady nerves. Coaching staff should focus on measurable aspects such as chance creation, possession recovery, and defensive duels. Tangible benchmarks offer clarity when emotions run high.
Supporter engagement increases as the stakes rise. Sports betting discussions often intensify during close title races, with fans examining form and availability before making predictions. Responsible choices and clear limits should always guide participation.
Blocking Out External Noise
Media narratives can distract players if allowed to linger. Dressing room unity counters that risk. Honest conversations after matches help address concerns quickly.
Rivals will likely drop points before the season ends. Inter cannot rely on that possibility. Consistency remains their strongest weapon.

Fixture Congestion and European Commitments
European competition adds complexity to domestic ambitions. Travel schedules disrupt rhythm, and recovery time shrinks noticeably.
Handling that balance effectively requires coordination across departments.
Managing Physical Demands
Sports science teams monitor workload data closely. Sprint distances, recovery metrics, and muscle fatigue all influence selection. Rest days should reflect individual needs rather than rigid timetables.
Short, focused training sessions often prove more effective than heavy drills during packed weeks. Sharpness and clarity outweigh intensity at this stage.
Supporters follow developments closely. Many review match previews and odds before they bet on sports when decisive fixtures approach. Interest sometimes extends to platforms that offer both online casino features and football markets, though responsible engagement remains important.
Mental Preparation Under Pressure
Mental fatigue can surface quietly. Brief tactical meetings that reinforce roles reduce uncertainty before kick-off. Clear instructions give players confidence when matches become chaotic.
Senior figures within the squad should reinforce standards daily. Small lapses in focus can cost valuable points.
Key Players Driving Inter’s Push
Individual contributions have shaped Inter’s campaign, yet cohesion remains the foundation of their success.
Lautaro’s Consistency in Front of Goal
Lautaro Martínez continues to deliver decisive moments. His movement unsettles defenders and creates space for teammates. Finishing stays composed even under pressure.
Encouraging varied attacking patterns can maximise his impact. Quick passing sequences around the box often open narrow channels for clear attempts.
Midfield Balance and Defensive Assurance
Barella connects defence and attack with relentless energy. Çalhanoğlu controls tempo and selects passes with precision. Zielinski offers experience during frantic spells, and Federico Dimarco has contributed to 20 goals, scoring five times and providing 15 assists.
Full-backs must judge forward runs carefully so that the shape remains intact. Communication between centre-backs and midfielders reduces exposure to counterattacks. These details often separate champions from challengers.
Stay Focused as the Run-In Approaches
A handful of matches now stand between Inter and potential silverware. Margins remain tight. Composure will shape the final outcome.
Discipline and Emotional Control
Away fixtures can test patience. Early setbacks should not alter the tactical plan. Clear structure offers reassurance when momentum swings.
Preparation needs to centre on organisation and efficient recovery. Emotional reactions waste energy better spent on execution.
Maintain Standards Until the Final Whistle
Belief has grown through steady performances rather than hype. Confidence grounded in habits tends to endure longer than excitement fuelled by headlines.
Inter still control their position at the top of the table. Sustaining defensive discipline, rotating intelligently, and trusting experienced leaders can protect that narrow lead.
Supporters can stay informed through regular team updates and fixture analysis as the decisive weeks unfold. Consistency from here will determine if Inter convert their advantage into a Serie A title.
