Romain Saïss wore Morocco’s jersey in 86 matches over more than 13 years, with his debut dating back to 2012. Since 2019, he has captained the Atlas Lions. This evening, he published a long and emotional message on his social media accounts.Dear Moroccan fans, today I close the most beautiful chapter of my football career. After deep reflection and with overwhelming emotion, I announce my retirement from international football. Wearing Morocco’s colors and leading the team as captain will forever remain the greatest honor of my career,” wrote the Al Sadd (Qatar) defender.

As captain, Romain Saïss led Morocco—and Africa for the first time in history—to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar. With his retirement announcement, the former player of Clermont, Le Havre, Wolverhampton, and others, emphasized the potential of the current generation.

The future of our national team looks bright. I wish them many titles, God willing. From now on, I will be your number one supporter, loyal and passionate no matter what. I say goodbye to the team, but I will always remain a Lion.

Tolu Arokodare calls for consequences: “No place for racism in football”

Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare revealed he was targeted by racist abuse online and called for firm action against discrimination in football.

Arokodare condemns online racism

Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare has become the latest footballer to speak out against racism after being subjected to abuse on social media.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers striker shared message on Instagram expressing shock that racist messages continue to circulate freely without consequences.

In his post, Arokodare said it was “unbelievable” that people still feel free to spread racism online. He stressed that those responsible have no place in football and called for collective action to punish anyone who damages the sport.

The message quickly received support from fans, fellow players and football figures, many of whom praised Arokodare for speaking out.

Club & League show support

Wolves reacted swiftly issuing official statement backing their player. The club said it was “disgusted” by the abuse and confirmed it had reported the posts to social media platforms.

Wolves also stated they would work with the Premier League and authorities to identify those responsible.

The Premier League also released statement pledging support to Wolves and committing to serious consequences for anyone found guilty. It reiterated its message that football is for everyone and that racism has no place in the game.

Part of a wider problem

Arokodare’s case came during what anti-discrimination groups described as “appalling weekend” for English football.

Kick It Out confirmed that several players were targeted online including Wesley Fofana and Hannibal Mejbri after their clubs’ recent matches.

Kick It Out said the incidents once again showed the urgent need for stronger action especially from social media platforms.

The organization stressed that players should not be expected to tolerate racist abuse and that words must be followed by real action.

Seahawks' Mike Macdonald ties unique NFL record for head coaches

If there is any group of people out there who do not need to be reminded of how special a head coach Mike Macdonald is, it will be fans of the Seattle Seahawks. In two years, they watched Macdonald transform their declining defense into one of the best the league has ever seen to bring home a second Lombardi trophy.

But just in case there is someone who might need reminding… or if folks are looking for more ammo in their belt when talking to friends/opposing fans… here’s another one: Mike Macdonald has officially tied Jim Harbaugh and Steve Mariucci for most wins by a head coach in his first two years at the position.

Just the beginning. pic.twitter.com/76cDMWnjSM

— Seattle Seahawks (@Seahawks) February 23, 2026

When looking at the first two years of these three men, it’s interesting how they seem to parallel each other in reverse. Both Harbaugh and Mariucci started hot with their tenures as 49ers head coach. Mariucci’s season in the Bay Area was 13-3 but a home loss in the NFC Championship, followed by a 12-4 record in his season season but being eliminated a week earlier in the Divisional Round. Similarly, Jim Harbaugh’s first season with San Francisco was a 13-3 campaign with a home loss in the NFCCG. Harbaugh’s second season was more successful, going 11-4-1 and a trip to the Super Bowl, which was a loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

As for Mike Macdonald, he didn’t enjoy the lofty No. 1 seed caliber season right out of the gate. His Seahawks finished 10-7 and narrowly missed the playoffs due to the fifth tiebreaker. However, Macdonald obviously flourished in year two, finishing with an overall record of 17-3 and earning that 27th victory with a win in Super Bowl LX.

The 2025-2026 season for the Seahawks was defined by many things, and chief among them was cementing clear and undeniable ownership over the rival 49ers for the rest of time. It seems eliminating the 49ers in humiliating fashion and winning the Super Bowl in their own stadium wasn’t enough… now Mike Macdonald has stolen some of the shine away from two of their previous head coaches as well.
