Red Wings vs Maple Leafs prediction
Red Wings vs Maple Leafs Best bet: Auston Matthews anytime goal (+110)
The Toronto Maple Leafs host the Detroit Red Wings for the second leg of a home-and-home.
Detroit won Saturday’s game in its barn, so Toronto is hoping to return the favor.
Although the Leafs are 1-1-0, the on-ice play hasn’t looked great. Toronto has a 38% xGF at 5-on-5. That cannot continue if the Leafs want to be a playoff team, and I expect the captain to be the one to lead them out of this early-season funk.
Auston Matthews failed to register a shot at 5-on-5 in the season opener, and then erupted for six against Detroit, proving to be far more dangerous than the game prior.
Along with the six shots on goal, Matthews ripped two pucks off the iron, as he hit a post and crossbar. He still hasn’t beaten a goaltender yet this season (scoring an empty-netter vs. Montreal), but the multitude of chances against Detroit suggests he should soon.
Matthews has had success against the Red Wings in the past, scoring seven goals over the last 10 meetings and 19 career tallies in 28 games.
Additionally, he’s getting a new linemate tonight with rookie winger Easton Cowan tagging in on his right side. Cowan is a solid facilitator and displayed strong playmaking skills in the preseason.
Moreover, with Cowan on his wing, I expect a little more offensive zone starts for the top line to ease the rookie into his debut. More time in the O-Zone means a higher likelihood of Matthews scoring.
Red Wings vs Maple Leafs same-game parlay
I’ll also pair my Matthews production with an assist from Matthew Knies. He’s playing over 20 minutes a night with the top line and top power-play assignments alongside Matthews.
Finally, Morgan Rielly’s gone over this number in back-to-back games and seems to be re-energized this season by being back on the PP1. He’s got seven shots on goal through two games.

Jack Grealish insists that there’s more to come from him
Jack Grealish insists that there’s more to come from him
Jack Grealish has been one of the best players in the nascent stages of the Premier League 2025/26 campaign but insists that there’s more to come from him.
Grealish, signed on loan from Manchester City, was named the league’s Player of the Month for the first time in his career in August, is jointly on top of the assists list and scored his first goal in a royal blue shirt in the recent 2-1 comeback win over Crystal Palace.
The 30-year-old also leads the division for key passes (19), assists (four), expected assisted goals (2.4), carries into the penalty area (28) and progressive carries (49), while also taking the most touches in the opposition box (48).
Grealish, however, suggests that there’s more to come. “Yeah, of course. I think I know what I can give. I know how good I am,” he told evertontv.
“I want to give more. I’ve got four assists now, one goal, and we’re in October. Who knows? By the end of the season, hopefully I can get many more and make the fans happy.”
Grealish opened his goalscoring account for his new club in the thrilling 2-1 comeback win over Palace just before the international break. Iliman Ndiaye converted from 12 yards after 76 minutes to restore parity while Grealish secured the win with a winner in the third minute of extra time, sending the over 51,000 Evertonians at the club’s new waterfront stadium into a frenzy.
Recollecting the emotional moment, Grealish said, “It’s brilliant. It’s so nice to score here, and do you know what’s mad? The last few games when we’ve been here, we’ve been drawing – and I keep saying to myself [around] the 85th minute: ‘Come on, Jack. Try to score. Imagine if you scored now.’
“I did it against Villa and against West Ham and I didn’t score, so today I actually said the same thing again – and I scored. I ran to where my mum and dad were, so it was nice. That goal goes to all the Evertonians who have made me so welcome here.”
The win over Oliver Glasner’s side helped Everton continue their unbeaten run at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. They’ve beaten Brighton and Palace and have shared points with Aston Villa and West Ham at Bramley-Moore Dock.
“It’s massive and I think I think to do well in the Premier League, you always have to make your home ground a place where teams find it difficult to come, and we’ve certainly done that this season,” Grealish added.
“We’ve been unbeaten here. It’s been nice and hopefully we can continue that because that’s what we want to do. We want to make it difficult for teams to come. With the fans with us, that’s the way it should be.”

Club identify Chelsea player as prime target – potential swap deal on the cards
Club identify Chelsea player as prime target – potential swap deal on the cards
A club has apparently identified a Chelsea player as their prime target and there is a possible swap deal on the cards.
Chelsea continue to get linked with new players as we move towards another transfer window opening up this winter. The summer seems like it was only yesterday and already we are turning attentions to the winter window that opens in around two and a half months times. It will be here before we know it now!
Join my own Chelsea community site where I report all the inside Chelsea transfer news, injury news and everything else that goes on behind the scenes!
Will Chelsea be busy? Who knows. I don’t expect them to, but there is a chance that they might look to sign a new centre back, and they’ve been linked recently with one name.
Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck has reportedly emerged as a key target for the Blues recently, with his current contract set to expire in 2027, meaning he could soon become available.
So when you read this next story, it tells you that there could potentially be a swap deal that the two clubs could do here if the rumours are correct.
Dortmund want Disasi

According to reports on BILD, Borussia Dortmund have identified Axel Disasi as their primary summer target if Nico Schlotterbeck decides to move on.
Disasi has very much become out of favour at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca and he is not playing for them right now or even making the bench. You think that he will almost certainly leave the club in January, and Dortmund sounds like it could be a good option for him.
We will have to see if anything comes of these links and the Schlotterbeck thing but perhaps it might be a case of doing each other a favour.
Breaking down Packers' Week 6 win over Bengals: What went right, wrong
For the first time since Sept. 11, the Green Bay Packers are back in the win column. Matt LaFleur’s team led 10-0 at half, held leads of 17-7 and 24-10 in the second half and eventually outlasted the Cincinnati Bengals in a 27-18 victory on Sunday at Lambeau Field.
The Packers (3-1-1) got an important win coming out of the bye and will now prepare for a two-game road trip that starts next Sunday.
Here’s what went right, what went wrong and what it means for the Packers moving forward:
What went right
— Jordan Love threw an early interception but was otherwise excellent, completing 18 of 23 passes for 238 yards and a score over the Packers’ next seven possessions, of which five ended in scores. He hit Matthew Golden three times for completions of at least 20 yards, had completions of at least 20 yards to four different players and used his legs to avoid pressure and move the sticks in big spots.
— The special teams were…fine? Lucas Havrisik connected on all five of his kicks, including a crucial late field goal, and returners Savion Williams and Bo Melton averaged 33.0 yards per kickoff. More importantly, there wasn’t a big mistake.
— The Packers responded consistently in the second half. After the Bengals cut the lead to 10-7, the Packers quickly produced a stress-free touchdown drive to restore a 10-poinit lead and then extended the lead to 24-10 with another impressive march after the Bengals got a field goal. Late in the fourth, Love’s big play to Golden kept the ball out of Cincinnati’s hands and helped extend the lead to nine points after the Bengals got to within 24-18.
— Matthew Golden is coming alive. The rookie had a 20-yard catch and run setting up a field goal, a 35-yard catch converting 3rd-and-10 on a touchdown drive and a 31-yard catch converting 3rd-and-9 and setting up the game-sealing field goal. He also caught a swing pass for eight yards (ruled a run) and finished with 102 total yards.
— The run game is showing signs of life. Josh Jacobs rushed for a season high 93 yards and averaged a season high 5.2 yards per attempt, and his 22 touches gained 150 yards and produced two scores. Jacobs is averaging over 100 total yards per game through five games, and he’s really developed into a weapon in the passing game. The Packers running back has a catch of at least 25 yards in three straight games.
— Despite not having Devonte Wyatt, the Packers held the Bengals to just 55 rushing yards on 16 attempts. Green Bay has allowed fewer than 100 rushing yards in four of five games this season, including three allowing 55 or fewer.
— The offensive line started its five preferred players and appeared to get through the contest without another injury. Protection wasn’t perfect early, but the line eventually settled in. This group needs to stay healthy and keep building continuity up front.
— By yards per play, the Packers won decisively, averaging 6.8 yards per play compared to just 4.3 for the Bengals, including a big advantage passing the pass (9.5 yards per attempt compared to 4.6). Down to down, the Packers were very good.
What went wrong
— The Packers dominated the first half but led only 10-0, mostly due to wasted opportunities on offense, and the game tightened in the second half as the Bengals offense came alive. LaFleur’s team has to do a better job of taking advantage when in control of a football game. Jordan Love threw an interception in the red zone, and the Packers had a drive stall at Cincinnati’s 42-yard line.
— The Packers defense pitched a shutout and allowed only 65 yards in the first half, but the Bengals engineered a 17-play touchdown drive to open the second half and scored on three straight possessions. Joe Flacco threw a pair of touchdown passes on fourth down to keep the Bengals alive. Second half defense is becomng a problem for Jeff Hafley’s group.
— For the third time in five games, the Packers defense failed to get a turnover.
— The defensive wasn’t super disruptive overall. Lukas Van Ness produced the defense’s only sack, and the Packers were credited with only four other tackles for loss, five quarterback hits and three pass breakups. Jeff Hafley’s defense has been great at limiting explosive plays, but death by a thousand paper cuts is working for opponents because there haven’t been enough negative plays created.
What it means
The Packers avoided another late-game collapse and won a football game for the first time in over a month. It wasn’t pretty for long stretches, but almost every win in pro football is hard fought, and this one proved no different. On one hand, the Packers controlled the game — really from start to finish — and won by two scores against a desperate team. On the other hand, the Packers were a failed third down conversion away from giving the ball back to a struggling Bengals team with a chance to steal the game late. Matt LaFleur’s team didn’t finish opportunities in the first half and kept the Bengals in the game, and then had to fight to seal the deal late. The Packers show flashes of being a great team every single week, but this team isn’t a finished product — and no great team ever is in October. The goal is to keep improving and building towards something bigger. The Packers need to get better, but they have just one loss entering Week 7 and 12 more games to keep improving.
What’s next
After playing their only home game in October, the Packers are back on the road for two games to end the month, starting Sunday in Arizona. The Cardinals began the season 2-0 but have lost four straight games, including a 31-27 defeat to the Colts on Sunday. Injuries are weighing heavily on Jonathan Gannon’s team. Quarterback Kyler Murray (foot) didn’t play Sunday, receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. departed with a concussion, and running back James Conner is among a long list of players on IR.

Iowa Football: Hawkeyes report card at top of class with Big Ten dominance over Wisconsin
It was clear that the Iowa Hawkeyes were healthy and locked in for the Heartland Trophy game after the bye week. The Hawkeye went on the road and hung up a 37-0 win on the Wisconsin Badgers, which saw Iowa flex all of its classic muscles.
Iowa relied on a defense that forced turnovers and stifled the offense, paired with a running game that simply did whatever it wanted all game long. The Hawkeyes had this game wrapped up by the end of the first quarter, and by halftime, it was a formality to play the second half.
The win pushes Iowa to 4-2 (2-1 Big Ten) on the season and staring down a night game against Penn State, which has become a whole lot more interesting with the firing of James Franklin.
With the win, check out the grades for all of the Hawkeyes’ units.
Offense
Offense Grade: B+
This unit really didn’t have a ton of pressure the entire evening. This game was nearly wrapped up by the end of the first quarter due to the short fields Iowa was given by its defense. All the offense had to do was produce in easy situations.
That said, you cannot discount how well Iowa ran the ball. Against a Badgers’ defense that had been strong against the run, Iowa racked up 210 rushing yards and four scores, while going for 5.8 yards per carry. They dominated the trenches and used the full committee of Kamari Moulton (96 yards, 1TD), Xavier Williams (55 yards, 2 TD), and Nathan McNeil (40 yards).
The only thing holding this game back from a higher grade for the offense is the passing game. Gronowski completed 18-25 passes, but managed just 109 yards and threw a pick that was a greedy attempt to score more points in the first quarter. He was recovering from his injury, didn’t appear to be 100%, and this game didn’t need his arm. I wouldn’t look into it any more than that.
Defense
Defense Grade: A+
The name of the game is to not let your opponent score, and that is exactly what the Iowa defense did in this game, pitching a shutout. This was a clinical performance from the Hawkeyes’ defense, who have found their legs in the last two games and look like one of the best defenses in the country.
Iowa held Wisconsin to 8-21 passing for 82 yards with two interceptions and allowed Wisconsin to run for only 3.5 yards per carry. The most impressive stat of the day is that the defense held Wisconsin, a Big Ten team, to 209 total yards of offense.
Special Teams
Special Teams Grade: A
No news is good news, and for special teams units, that’s one of the biggest compliments you can say. Nothing went awry, and this unit showed its usual clean and crisp skills.
Kaden Wetjen quietly produced in the punt return game, averaging 11.3 yards per punt, which is essentially giving Iowa a first down each time they take over on offense. It may seem small, but it adds up.
Drew Stevens was 3-3 on the day with a long of 49, which was a great sight to see. If he can regain form and stay like this, he is a weapon for Iowa down the stretch. In the punting game, Rhys Dakin punted four times for 38.8 yards per punt with two down inside the Wisconsin 20-yard line.
Coaching
Coaching Grade: A
Is it possible that the way a game breaks can make it easier to coach? That feels like the case in this matchup. Iowa got out to a commanding lead so quickly that the coaching staff seemingly just had to manage keeping them focused. That is one area where Kirk Ferentz may be the best in the country. He kept Iowa engaged.
Phli Parker had all the right levers on defense pulled and made it a miserably long night for Wisconsin on offense. LeVar Woods had the special teams unit locked in and doing their jobs.
On offense, Tim Lester knew he needed to protect Mark Gronowski a little bit and not force the issue of taking hits. He did just that. He turned around and handed the ball off to his stable of backs and let his line churn out yards with ease.
Overall
Overall Grade: A
It isn’t often a Big Ten team goes on the road, pitches a shutout, and takes home a rivalry trophy in such dominant fashion. This was a special showing from the Hawkeyes that saw them be the better team from the first snap to the last.
Wisconsin may not be the best team on Iowa’s schedule, but winning games against inferior teams like this in such a dominant fashion is what good teams do. Don’t downplay this game because it was against Wisconsin. Rather, appreciate the complete performance from the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Juventus confirm another knee injury and surgery for Bremer
Juventus confirm another knee injury and surgery for Bremer
Juventus have confirmed that centre-back Gleison Bremer has been diagnosed with an injury to his meniscus, and that he will have to undergo surgery again in an attempt to repair the damage.
The Brazil international had missed the majority of the 2024-25 campaign with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that he picked up during a Champions League match against RB Leipzig in October. He was kept out of action for the remainder of the season.
Bremer marked his return to competitive action on the first weekend of the 2025-26 Serie A season, starting in his side’s 2-0 victory over Parma on the opening day. He was, however, left out of the starting line-up for both of Juve’s last two matches prior to the international break.

Juventus have since confirmed that Bremer has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his left knee, the same knee that was already operated on last season.
The 28-year-old will once again have to go under the knife to repair the damage, the club have confirmed.
“This morning in Lyon, Gleison Bremer underwent a medical consultation with Dr. Sonnery-Cottet, who diagnosed him with a torn medial meniscus in his left knee,” a statement from Juventus read.
“In the next few hours the player will undergo selective arthroscopic meniscectomy.”
Initial reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that Bremer will be out of action for over a month. He could potentially be targeting a return after the November international break.
Meanwhile, Daniele Rugani is expected to step up and earn more first-team minutes in his teammate’s absence.

Jeffery Simmons calls out Titans teammates for poor week of practice after another loss: 'We came out flat'
Things haven’t gone well for Brian Callahan in his first season as Tennessee Titans head coach. Through six games, the team is 1-5 and boasts one of the worst offenses — and defenses — in the NFL.
While a Week 5 win over the Arizona Cardinals offered some hope the Titans were back on the right track, the team’s lackluster loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 6 reset any of that momentum.
A least one Titans player expressed frustration with the team’s inability to build on its Week 5 win. After Sunday’s loss to the Raiders, Pro Bowler Jeffery Simmons called out his teammates for turning in a terrible week of practice entering Week 6.
Jeffery Simmons said the team came out flat on Thursday and had one of their worst weeks of practice. pic.twitter.com/Yc74ith0y2
— TURRON DAVENPORT (@TDavenport_NFL) October 12, 2025
Simmons’ full comments read:
“It is disappointing. In this league, you have to learn how to stack wins. And to be able to carry that momentum over, you have to do … I mean, it started at practice. Just being honest, this probably was one of our worst weeks of practice. We came out flat Thursday. And things like that, and that nature, sometimes things carry over.
“In this league, you have to prove it every week. And re-prove it. You gotta go out there and keep proving yourself, your team, that you can win in this league. We didn’t do that in all three phases. Today was bad football. We didn’t play good today at all.”
It’s a discouraging development for the Titans, who are trying to recover after three-straight last-place finishes in the AFC South.
The selection of Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick was supposed to help the team turn around its luck, but Ward has taken some time to adjust to the NFL. In six games, Ward has just three passing touchdowns against four interceptions. He’s far from the only reason the Titans have struggled, but his slow acclimation process has been discouraging.
Simmons’ comments make it clear it goes beyond one person, though. With his comments, Simmons seemingly called out both his teammates and the coaching staff.
If the Titans are going to turn things around, it’s going to take a team-wide effort to make that happen. Simmons is one of the most accomplished players on the team, so here’s hoping his comment inspires both his teammates and the coaching staff to do better as the Titans prepare to play the New England Patriots in Week 7.
'College GameDay' announces Week 8 location
ESPN’s “College GameDay” will be in SEC country this upcoming Saturday. GameDay has chosen to come to Athens and will be in town for the top 10 matchup between the No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs and the No. 5 Ole Miss Rebels.
GameDay will also have a special performances by Bailey Zimmerman and Luke Combs. This is the second time College GameDay has been in attendance for a Georgia game this season, with the first one being against Tennessee. The result of the previous game was a huge comeback 34-31 road victory for the Bulldogs. It was Gunner Stockton’s coming out party with his performance of 304 passing yards and three total touchdowns.
The 2024 Georgia-Ole Miss game left many people within Georgia football with a bad taste in their mouth after the Dawgs suffered a 28-10 road loss. Ole Miss defense forced three turnovers and five sacks against Georgia’s offense last season. The Georgia win was a season-defining moment for coach Lane Kiffin and the Rebels, but Ole Miss still missed the College Football Playoff last year and is looking to make it this time.
Both teams are coming off nailbiters, but came out on the right side with victories. Ole Miss getting the win over Washington State, 24-21, and Georgia is getting a win against SEC rival Auburn, 20-10. This game will be a fast, physical four-quarter game between both of these teams.

ESPN analyst breaks down Oregon Ducks' road to College Football Playoff after Week 7 loss
The sky may seem like it’s falling in Eugene after the Oregon Ducks suffered a devastating loss to the Indiana Hoosiers in Week 7. But, as is the beauty of the expanded 12-team format that is the College Football Playoff, the season is far from over for the Ducks.
In fact, the main goal that is set out for them — a national championship — is still well within the realm of possibility.
ESPN senior college football insider Heather Dinich provided a CFP projection coming out of Week 7, listing the Ducks as the No. 8 seed.
As for why they could there, she wrote “The Ducks faced their toughest opponent to date and lost at home to Indiana, a significant setback in the Big Ten race but hardly a dagger in their CFP hopes. The bigger problem is the lack of a true statement win, as the Sept. 27 double overtime win at Penn State has been significantly devalued following the three-loss Nittany Lions‘ unraveling. A win against FCS Montana State isn’t going to impress the committee, nor will a win against an Oklahoma State team that fired its head coach. Oregon’s best win so far is at 4-2 Northwestern, which also beat Penn State. Indiana’s defense also gave Oregon its biggest challenge of the season, holding the Ducks to a season-low 20 points.”
She then listed Oregon’s Nov. 29 bout at the Washington Huskies as their toughest game remaining — hardly a resume-builder from the perspective of the CFP committee.
It’s an unfortunate reality that the Ducks don’t appear to have another chance to bolster their resume before the regular-season ends. A home date with the USC Trojans the week before Washington could also be difficult, but it’s highly unlikely to compare to their home test against Indiana.
The plus to not receiving a first-round bye in the CFP and being seeded from 4-8 is that Oregon would be awarded with a home playoff game, the first in program history.
For that to happen, the Ducks have to play with a sense of urgency and win out — a somewhat daunting task no matter the opponents considering that there is still over six weeks until the end of the regular-season.
Regardless, the moral of the story reigns true: the season is far from over for head coach Dan Lanning and his Oregon squad, as their main goal is still very much attainable.

Report: Bayern could face competition from Chelsea for Murillo
Report: Bayern could face competition from Chelsea for Murillo
Bayern Munich could face serious competition next summer in the race for Nottingham Forest defender Murillo.
After reports emerged that Bayern is monitoring the Brazilian central defender, Spanish portal Fichajes notes Chelsea is also interested.
So much so that the English club apparently believe they have the better chance of capturing the 25-year-old talent.
According to the report, the Blues are planning to make a move next summer as they plan to restructure their defense entirely.
The Premier League club is said to be confident they can score points both financially and with his sporting potential.
Nottingham is reportedly demanding at least €50 million for the defender – an amount that Bayern Munich could also pay in principle.
